What to know

Brass key cutting is a customer favorite at Holmes Ace Hardware. Both the New Albany and Charlestown stores cut house keys, padlock keys, and many specialty keys while you wait.

Both stores duplicate OEM car keys through our Hillman KeyStart / Durakey program, also called My Key Counter. This copies a key you already have. Bring one working key, and bring the vehicle. Programming is usually done with the vehicle here. If every key is lost, that is outside this program, and a dealer or locksmith handles it. We do not program unsupported aftermarket keys bought on Amazon or other online shops.

Not every vehicle is covered. Call the store before you drive with the year, make, and model. Have the VIN ready if the store asks for it. This page does not list a price, and this website does not sell car keys.

New Albany is at 1905 Charlestown Rd. People also come from Clarksville, Floyds Knobs, Georgetown, Jeffersonville, and Louisville. Charlestown is at 9207 County Road 403. People also come from Sellersburg, Jeffersonville, Henryville, and Utica. If you need a key today, call or come to the counter. Keys are cut in the store.

This website does not cut keys and does not have a cart. Shop online opens that Ace store on acehardware.com if you also want to order something for pickup. Choose the store before you check out.

For a rekey, send a service request, choose the store and Lock rekeying, and say how many locks you are bringing. We do not list a rekey price here. Ask at the counter before you leave the locks.

Do you duplicate car keys?

Yes. Both Charlestown and New Albany duplicate and program OEM car keys through our Hillman KeyStart / Durakey program. Bring one working key and the vehicle. The vehicle usually needs to be here for programming.

Do I need a working key?

Yes. Bring one working key. This service copies that key. If every key is lost, that is outside this program. A dealer or locksmith handles all-keys-lost.

Should I call ahead about my vehicle?

Yes. Not every vehicle is covered. Call the store with the year, make, and model. Have the VIN ready if the store asks for it.

Do you program keys bought on Amazon?

No. We do not program unsupported aftermarket keys bought on Amazon or other online shops.
